Courtney's Bookshop was founded and named in honor of Courtney Blowers. Courtney was an incredible woman, a writer, a reader, an academic, an animal lover, a sister, a daughter, and a beloved friend. She was also my Aunt. 

Tragically, Courtney passed away in 1996, at the age of 29 from breast cancer. However, her life was in no way defined by her death. She was funny, wild, weird, a great singer -- though shy on stage, a loving girlfriend, a little sister, and a champion for lost-cause animals -- particularly cats. 

Courtney's dream was to open a small bookshop -- in Northampton -- filled with cats. Though we aren't a brick-and-mortar store, I like to think that Courtney would approve. 

Through its name and its actions within the community, Courtney's Bookshop seeks to honor Courtney's loving, empathetic, and learned legacy.
